As you can probably tell from my moniker, I have a few interests. Well it covers two out of three of them anyway but I figure my banner says it all: Knitting, Cooking and Photography.
I took up knitting, believe it or not, on the suggestion of my wonderful husband. Oh how well he knows me. For the most part I’m a self-taught Continental style knitter – blogs, websites and books are wonderful learning tools. Although I have been knitting since about 2006, I didn’t really get into it for another two years…now I’m a bit of an obsessed, slow but sure knitter. My mother-in-law, an avid knitter has been a great source of support and inspiration along the way. Anytime we get together, there is knitting involved.
I get my love of cooking from my mom, who always had time to make a delicious homey meal for the family. And oh what a baker! Oddly, I wasn’t all that interested in cooking as a kid (oh how things change). However when the holidays came around I’d always help out. She and I would cook and bake up a storm, I think we could have fed the entire neighborhood! Some of my fondest memories revolve around these moments.
I caught the photography bug from my dad. For as long as I can remember he always had a camera with him. There is an amazing volume of pictures (and 8mm home movies) of my sister and I, all taken by him. He’d occasionally let me use his camera under his watchful eye, and then for my 16th birthday he took me to get my own: a Nikon FM2. Now of course it’s all digital but there is still a soft spot in my heart for Tri-X.
I share my life with the most amazing man. My husband is an accomplished musician, a luthier and an artist. He is my soulmate and my best friend; we have a wonderful life together full of creativity and love. We support each other in our individual pursuits often joining each other in the fun. We share our lives with two sweet, squishy basset hounds (AKA lap dogs) who provide constant comic relief and unconditional love.

I love your blog and the way your write about life and just wondered if you’d consider taking part in this? http://writingacookerybook.blogspot.com/2011/08/random-bakes-of-kindness.html
I’m actually surprised at how much of that I can relate to! And also that I only just found your blog. Darn ol’ internet just has so many places to hide things. By the way, the photo banner for your blog is fantastic.
I was a knitter from Girl Scouts to high school and then through my 30′s before it became such an in vogue thing. Loved to needlepoint and petit point. Alas, carpal tunnel and l upus took a lot of the dexterity, flexibility, and coordination out of my sails and bid adieu for awhile to the needle crafts as well as my beloved piano. This summer I decided to try knitting a wee bit: digging out the needles was a more arduous process than remembering how to knit and purl. Now to re-learn patterns, fancy stitches, and have some fun in moderation. Love it that you cook, too, as I’m a science geek who loves to bake.
